About the Ishii Seiji Museum
Welcome to Ishii Seiji Museum of Art, The official website of the painter, Seiji Ishii.
Originally trained in oil painting, Mr. Ishii draw many Suibokuga, Painting in India ink, but his background made them significantly different from Nanga, the Southern school of Chinese Painting, or Zenga, Zen Painting.
Mr. Ishii’s paintings express his endless observation, impressions of nature and deep affection of nature, ancestors and family.
Greeting
Seiji Ishii desired to have an open space to share his art with a lot of people.
But in reality, it was difficult to create such a space.
This was his long time "dream".
Sixteen years after his passing, we received requests to view his art on the web and decided to open a web museum.
Using the original technique, his Suibokuga, Painting in India ink, are different from any other paintings, not also Western painting but Japanese painting, and established Seiji Ishii's world.

This organization was established in 1965 by Seiji Ishii as a place for activities and connections to spread ink painting, which is a Japanese art.
After the death of Seiji Ishii, his wife, Sana, took over, and now his daughter, Ayu Kawase, is running as chairman for the development of the association.
Every year, we hold the "Ink Prefectural Exhibition" at the Chiba Prefectural Museum of Art.

This is an exhibition of ink painting, which was established in 1976 as an activity to promote the spread of ink painting, which is a traditional Japanese art.
It is held every year at the Chiba Prefectural Museum of Art with the support of the Chiba Prefectural Board of Education.
